As a major stakeholder in the industry, the Association recognizes the necessity, therefore collectively participates and contributes immensely in major travel fairs such as WTM in UK and ITB in Berlin . Before the establishment of the GTA, the GHA was responsible for the organization of these trade fairs. Recently Members of the GHA together with stakeholders have decided to embark on a sub-regional marketing, to compliment & diversify, and to promote The Gambia as a summer destination ideal for week-end breaks, honeymoon, weddings, shopping etc. The team had visited Senegal , Ghana and plans are underway to visit Nigeria .
In recent years, the GHA have been working together with PUM, an organization of senior experts based in Netherlands, and local experts in the training of staff of member hotels in various fields i.e. customer care, pastry, marketing/IT etc.
The Gambia , the Smiling Coast of West Africa people are as friendly as ever. The excellent facilities provided by Members of the GHA, which are mainly situated along our palm fringed coast line, offer a base for an excellent holiday.

The Gambia Hotel Association (GHA) has been in existence for over twenty five years. Over the years its membership has grown (30 hotels) and all major hotels are members of the Association. Member hotels are located around Senegambia, Bijilo, Kotu, Bakau and Banjul .
To further enhance the activities of the Association, the GHA recently established a Secretariat located at the Golden Beach Hotel, Bijilo.
This body is guided by its constitution which was amended recently by a legal practitioner.
It is the Association’s aim to especially promote, nurture and foster tourism in the Gambia in collaboration with the Government Agencies i.e. Gambia Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Department of State for Tourism & Culture alongside with other stakeholders.
Financially GHA supports the Gambia Hotel School located at Kanifing, the only institution that offers specialized training in tourism. This is under the umbrella of the Government.
Monthly meetings are held in member hotels to update, discuss events and tackle issues as a team. An Annual General Meeting is held in December whereby a review of the years achievement and projections for the next year is discussed. Also nomination of the executive committee takes place.
